Intro to Linocut Block Printing
A one-day printmaking workshop for girls ages 10-15
Most craft classes hand a girl a kit. This one hands her a block of linoleum and a set of carving tools.
Linocut is a traditional printmaking craft. You carve a design into a block, roll ink over it, and press it onto paper or fabric. It's rarely offered at craft stores or in craft clubs, and girls this age are more than ready for it.
What She’ll Do:
Carve: she draws her own design onto a soft linoleum block and carves it out with real carving tools, making her own stamp
Ink: she rolls printmaking ink onto the stamp
Print: she prints her design on paper, then onto a pencil pouch
What She Takes Home:
The stamp she carved, which she can reuse at home
Her hand-printed pencil pouch
